Kogi Central: SAN Saiki Officially Declares Bid for Senate

Former House of Representatives member for Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, Aliyu Omeiza Saiki, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kogi Central Senatorial Seat under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. Saiki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made the announcement over the weekend during a critical stakeholders’ meeting organized by Uka Nation, which was attended by prominent traditional rulers and political leaders.

The declaration event, held at Kings Royal Hotel, Okene, also witnessed the endorsement of Saiki’s maternal family, the distinguished Ezi Omoye of Kogi Central. Speaking at the event, the National President of the Omoye Development Association, retired Permanent Secretary Adayi Y. Momoh, pledged the full support of the family, stating:

“Omoye is APC, and once you are presented by the Party, our winning support is yours, Honourable Saiki.”

Momoh highlighted that residents of Kogi Central have expressed satisfaction with Saiki’s performance at the National Assembly and his impeccable moral and professional background. He further noted that Saiki’s legal expertise as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria would contribute significantly to the development of the senatorial district.

In a show of further support, Saiki visited the Ohi Etohweyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami, who commended the aspirant for accepting the call to serve. Alhaji Salami stated:

“I commend you, Barrister Aliyu Omeiza Saiki, SAN, for accepting this call to serve, and I am confident you will leverage your experience as a Federal Lawmaker and Senior Advocate of Nigeria to benefit the people of Kogi Central. Best of luck, Saiki.”

Saiki, who was among the senior lawyers involved in the 2023 post-election litigations at both presidential and gubernatorial levels, acknowledged President Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their leadership during the declaration.

The event was attended by notable career diplomats, legal luminaries, and political figures, including Barristers S.O. Odege, A.U. Akobe, and B.H. Onuwoji, as well as community leaders such as retired NYSC Finance Director Alhaji Abdulaziz Isah Saiki, Professor Yunusa Saiki of Federal University Lokoja, former Commissioner for Works Engineer Abdulmumuni Sadiq, former Adavi LGA Executive Chairman Hon. Omuya Joseph Lusty, former Caretaker Chairman Hon. Ibrahim Ochu, and former council leader Hon. Abdulganiyu Ogirima.

Other attendees included former councillors, supervisory councillors, women and youth leaders, artisans, market women, and professional associates, demonstrating broad-based support for Saiki’s senatorial ambition.
