Necessary measures have been put in place by lawyers in Edo State to carry out their threat to boycott courts over the kidnap of a Justice of the appeal court in Benin, Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme.
The lawyers, disclosed this during a press conference at the NBA House in Benin City on Tuesday where they stated that they made known their resolve stay away from court proceedings for three days in the first instance starting Wednesday 6th of November.
They said the boycott will continue if Justice Nwosu-Iheme is not released by Friday.
The lawyers condemned the incessant abduction of legal practitioners in the state and called on security agencies to wake up to their responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens.
At least eight lawyers and judges have been abducted across the state in the last nine months.
Justice Chioma Nwosu- Iheme, a justice of the appeal court, Benin division was abducted in Benin city last Wednesday while her police orderly was shot dead by her kidnappers.
