‘Lead by Example’: Atiku Calls Out FG, Urges Tinubu to Replace Escalade with Innoson

According to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, President Bola Tinubu should exchange his Escalade for Innoson Motors in order to persuade Nigerians that the Federal Government is not sincere with its Nigeria First Policy.

Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, signed a press release on Wednesday that said, “The Tinubu administration’s latest “Nigeria First” slogan, which is being promoted by the Federal Executive Council, is just another cliched public relations gimmick that is meant to mislead rather than to deliver.” Nigerians have had enough of speeches that don’t mean anything. Start at the top if this government is serious about economic patriotism and local content.

We urge President Tinubu to put an end to the commotion and exchange his prized Escalade for a Nord, Innoson, or any other vehicle manufactured in Nigeria. More local industry will be boosted by that one deed than by a thousand governmental documents combined. Let’s see the ministers, those blatant Rolls-Royce enthusiasts, work out in cars built in Nigeria as well. Is “Nigeria First” just for the general public?

Speaking of unfairness, it’s time for the president to give up his obsession with London and Paris. His next trip need to be to Yankari Game Reserve, Erin Ijesha Waterfalls, or Obudu Cattle Ranch if he truly believes in patriotism. Unless the president has a different opinion, Nigeria is a wonderful country.

More importantly, the days of traveling for medical treatment while advocating for independence must come to an end. We insist that President Tinubu, who advocates for “Nigeria First,” perform all upcoming medical examinations at LUTH, National Hospital Abuja, UCH Ibadan, or even the N41 billion Naira Akwa Ibom world-class hospital in Uyo, which was constructed by an unusual transformer. These hospitals should be adequate for their Commander-in-Chief if they are adequate for other Nigerians. Anything less is blatantly hypocritical.

“The pinnacle of insincerity is this government’s addiction to imported pleasures while requesting sacrifice from struggling Nigerians. Setting the tone by example is what true leadership is all about, not photo opportunities or catchphrases.

“Real dedication, not this never-ending charade, is what Nigeria deserves.”
