There is concern in several states as no fewer than 25 Nigerian governors anticipate hearing from the tribunals hearing the petitions for governorship elections in their respective states.
Reports state that decisions on the petitions should be rendered before the end of September.
At least 25 of the 28 states where the governorship elections for March 18 were held were under investigation by the tribunal.
After the parties’ hearings are over, the tribunals in the 25 states that were impacted have reserved their decisions and adopted written responses in accordance with the Practice Director of the petitions issued by Justice Monica Dongban-Mensen, the head of the court of appeals. The list of governors and the states they represent is below:
One of the Nigerian governors whose fate would be decided before the end of September was Francis Nwifuru, governor of the Ebonyi State. This is due to the fact that the state governorship election petition, which is being heard in Abuja, has reserved judgment on the petition to oust him as the victor of the governorship election held on March 18. The petition against Nwifuru and the All Progressives Congress (APC) was filed by Chief Ifeanyi Odii and Prof. Benard Odoh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Sokoto’s Ahmed Aliyu In addition, the outcome of the petition Sa’idu Umar of the PDP filed against Ahmed Aliyu, the APC governor of Sokoto State, against his victory in the state’s governorship election on March 18, would be known this month. The petitioner claims that the election was marred by serious irregularities and that the governor’s secondary and university diplomas differed somewhat.
Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano The governor of Kano state, Yusuf, has resorted to prayer in response to the APC’s suit, while the tribunal has postponed its decision till this month.
As a result of allegations of outside influence on the court by supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the APC, there is unrest in the state prior to the decision. Delta County Sheriff Oborevwori The Delta State capital’s Asaba-based tribunal has yet to set a date for rendering a decision on the suit brought by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC against Oborevwori of the PDP about the latter’s victory in the state’s March 18 governorship election. The APC and PDP both expressed confidence that they would prevail in the tribunal. Ogun Dapo Abiodun The APC’s base camp Both Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his main rival, PDP candidate Ladi Adebutu, anticipate success at the tribunal.
Adebutu claims that Abiodun’s victory was marred by fraud, violence, and irregularities. The following governors’ futures may also be decided by the tribunal in September:

In the National Assembly elections held on February 25, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the current government, won the majority of the Senate seats. The APC assumed control of the principal officer positions in the senate since it had the most senators in the red chamber.
