According to Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, the loss of his son Ifeanyi Adeleke was a devastating blow to his life.
Recall that in October 2022, Ifeanyi, the singer’s three-year-old kid, drowned in a pool at his home in Banana Island, Lagos State, killing Davido and his wife, Chioma.
In a recent interview with Rocsi Diaz of ABC News, Davido said that losing his son altered his outlook on life and his profession.
He added that he was pleased with the way he and Chioma dealt with the loss and recovered.
As he described how people came him multiple times to express gratitude for encouraging them to be strong during difficult times, the musician disclosed that their strength has been a source of inspiration for many.
After losing my son, taking a step back and reflecting on my work helped me refocus on my goals for the future. My life was altered by it.
“I am aware of how many people approach me at random in the airport to share how my strength has helped them get through difficult times. The other day, I told my wife that I was proud of our ability to recover. We now have twins. They are large and yelling all over. It’s tremendous for us to be able to move past the loss of our baby and recover significantly,” Davido remarked.
