16 newly confirmed commissioners by the state House of Assembly were sworn in by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday.
Along with Kudirat Adeyemo, the new Secretary to the State Government, he also swore in Olubunmi Oni, the former acting Head of Service, to the substantive position of the HoS.
The state’s newly appointed Accountant General, Kikelomo Adegoke, as well as the 13 newly promoted Permanent Secretaries were all sworn in by Makinde at the Executive Chambers, Governor’s Office in Ibadan, the state capital, during the swearing-in ceremony. The governor emphasised that this was the first time the state had a cabinet with representation from each of the state’s 14 federal constituencies and urged the new cabinet members to view their appointments as a call to service rather than as opportunities for personal advancement.
This is a call for more work from you all, Makinde said. The commissioners who worked with me during my first term and some of you already are familiar with my style of operation won’t see any changes. Therefore, we won’t disappoint our supporters.
“I want you to be aware that there is much work to be done for our people. We have already finished the roadmap for sustainable development from 2023 to 2027. Key into it, please. These are extremely trying times. In this second tenure, a lot has transpired, and from what we have observed, a lot will be expected of us. There shouldn’t be any laxness, please. You have all taken the oath of office, and I expect you to uphold it in everything you do.
He gave them his word that he would keep offering a forum for personal development while pursuing the state’s overall development.
