An Ilorin Magistrates Court has on Tuesday remanded one Umar Abubakar, in prison for allegedly killing his neighbour, Umaru Mohammed.
Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye, who presided over the case after hearing the defendant’s plea, ordered that he be remanded at Okekura Prison, Ilorin, pending a further police investigation.
Although, Insp. Abdullahi Sanni, counsel to the prosecutor told the court that the defendant was arrested on June 20 following a fight between the defendant and the deceased at Banni in Kosubosu Local Government Area of Kwara.
On the cause of the fight, Sanni said that the fight ensued between the duo because the deceased didn’t allow the defendant to play with his sister.
He also noted that the defendant was brought to court on one count of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law while urging the court to remand the defendant in prison custody pending the completion of the investigation.
Bamigboye, however, adjourned the case till July 26 for further mention.
