May Edochie’s Divorce Case Suffers Setback as Lawyer Resigns

The legal team defending May Edochie in her continuing divorce dispute with Yul Edochie, DPA Family Clinic, has declared its intention to step aside from the case.

In 2023, May filed for divorce from Yul Edochie and sought damages of N100 million.

This followed the actor’s April 2022 announcement of Judy Austin as his second wife.

The law company recently claimed on Facebook that its services to May have “come to an end” because of the “hostility” of certain members of the “May Nation” group.

DPA emphasized that its employees’ safety and welfare had grown to be a top priority.

The statement said that DPA employees had experienced “persistent bullying and trolling” from May’s fans in addition to Yul and Judy’s supporters.

“We cannot continue to have effective representation because of the hostile environment created by some members of the “May Nation” group,” the statement says.

When Queen May’s own supporters show as much, if not more, animosity, it becomes extremely difficult to take ethical action against those who abused her. As a result, we were forced to retreat.

“DPA and our employees face a serious operational and moral dilemma as a result of the ongoing abuse and trolling coming from Queen May’s alleged followers.

As a result, I am unable to continue sending our committed employees—young men and women—into these cases with integrity. May’s followers harass them on a daily basis; Yul’s supporters have previously attacked them in a similar manner.

“The amount of money needed for our representation is irreconcilable with Queen May’s incapacity to significantly impact this increasingly divisive segment of her fans. Since our employees are people, it is my top priority to ensure their welfare.

DPA insisted that May was a “victim of marital abuse and betrayal” and pledged to work with her new lawyers, even as it denounced Yul’s behavior in the marriage.

Additionally, the law company declared that it will file a lawsuit against “Judy Obasiyul Autism,” the claimed mastermind behind the assaults on its employees.

“Let there be no misinterpretation: Yul, with Judy’s help, is solely responsible for the series of events that culminate in the confrontation between Queen May and Yul. DPA stated that Queen May is entitled to social protection and fairness.

“DPA denounces Yul and Judy’s conduct that sparked the altercation. Because we believe that men and women should have equal rights, DPA rejects forced polygamy.

“To transfer our work to any successor representatives she appoints, DPA will collaborate with Queen May and her team. Importantly, both during and after withdrawal, we are still responsible for safeguarding our client’s best interests.

“We hope Queen May wins. She is an extraordinary person. We are still accessible to her and are prepared to work with her new agents if they have any inquiries about our previous work.

“Going forward, DPA will take legal action against the purported leader of “May Nation,” who is going by the alias “Judy Obasiyul Autism,” whoever they may be.”
