On Thursday, the military high command said that its operations in the Niger Delta had prevented oil thieves from stealing crude oil worth an estimated N4 billion from the nation.
The command reported that during this time, oil thieves turned over more than 6.6 million liters of stolen crude oil, 3.5 million liters of AGO, 200,000 liters of DPK, and more than 65,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirits.
Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media activities, made this announcement in Abuja at the quarterly briefing on military activities across the nation between June and August 2023.
In the South-South geopolitical zone, he claimed, “troops actions resulted in the arrest of 6,652,250 liters of stolen crude oil, 3,558,325 liters of unlawfully refined AGO, 288,650 liters of DPK, and 65,600 PMS. All of this adds up to an estimated N4 billion that the oil thieves were not given. preventing economic saboteurs from stealing this money from the country.
Buba added that while 814 terrorists were killed in the North East, troops nationwide detained 2,328 offenders during various operations.
