Nigerians on social media have blasted Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, who was allegedly arrested under Interpol’s order and is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (FFCC) for investigations.

Mompha is a self-acclaimed bureau de change operator whose posh lifestyle has made him a darling of Instagram users.

Whilst the reason for his arrest is yet to be known, sources have alleged that the Dubai-based ‘big boy’ was picked up for fraud in Abuja shortly after arriving in the country.

It was also gathered that Mompha had escaped Interpol’s arrest in Dubai as he had been on their radar in a bid to curb internet fraud crime.

However, some Nigerians have taken to social media to frown at the alleged offence of internet fraud while naming others who are suspected to tow the same path.

See some tweets below:

@TosinOlubenga tweeted
“Mompha escaped from Interpol arrest in Dubai and he flew to Nigeria secretly. He was tracked through his airline ticket and on Interpol request, he was arrested by EFCC on a $5m internet scam

He’s an Instagram King

@DirectorFlo tweeted
“If you have been asking “God When” to Mompha’s standard of life and lifestyle please don’t hesitate to ask ‘God When” to his current condition and location. All equations must be balanced.”

@RealDreylo tweeted
“How can you trust that Mompha Guy? Nobody knows what he does. Today baba don buy Bentley, tomorrow him don buy Rolls Royce wey Queen Elizabeth Dey use. Instagram life sha 🙆🏼‍♂”

@demithacreator tweeted
“Even if you do Blood money, Ifa can’t afford the kind of money that Mompha has. It’s almost impossible to tell me there isn’t illegal shit involved. Probably laundering. All he had to do was stay lowkey but no.”

@afambuLee tweeted
“Guy was pretty low key until Hushpuppi up the ante; everybody wanted to show ‘who get pass’.”

@royzkingin tweeted
“I’ve always said that there’s no way Mompha’s money isn’t dirty. Person wey dey flex on hushpuppi. Change cars like cloth. Always flaunting millions in cash.

People wey dey use their mama do ritual sef no do reach like this.”

@231_michel tweeted
“Had Pablo remained in his biz & influenced the politics of the day, he will still be here.
Had Frank Lucas refused his wife coat that night, the Feds wouldn’t have seen him.

Mompha & others need to watch lots of organized crime movies.
Stay low, off radar”

@FifunmiRexx tweeted
“Just relax, do not let Mompha and social media get you into trouble. Legit money does not grow on trees, only for fraudsters, hence Davido’s comment. https://t.co/Djv14HoGXw”
