A comprehensive green economic roadmap was presented by Governor Umaru Bago on Friday at the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

The government’s commitment to environmental conservation, management of carbon sink assets, sustainable resource management, renewable energy development, inclusivity, and private sector-led job creation, particularly in green sectors, was emphasized by Governor Bago when outlining the main objectives of the green economy initiative.

The governor announced plans to plant one billion trees in order to sequester carbon credits, demonstrating the state’s dedication to long-term sustainability.

Over the following four to five years, he said, the effort will cover 760,000 hectares of land.

About 100 of these estates are to be developed throughout the state, according to proposals revealed by Governor Bago. These estates will be used for crop cultivation, water resource management, job creation, and wealth generation for residents.
