Nigerian Government Responds After Military Aircraft Detained in Burkina Faso

The Federal Government has acknowledged that it is looking into the reasons for the detention of a Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft in Burkina Faso following its forced landing in Bobo-Dioulasso on Monday.

There are reports that the aircraft breached the nation’s airspace.

The administration is keeping an eye on the situation, according to Kimiebi Ebienfa, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ebienfa informed reporters, “We are keeping an eye on the situation and will release a statement once we have sufficient information.”

Eleven persons, including two crew members and nine troops, were on board the Nigerian Air Force aircraft. They were in Burkinabe airspace when they made an emergency landing.

Authorities in Burkina Faso “highlighted the absence of authorization to fly over the territory of Burkina Faso for this military device” in a statement.
