The founder father of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was arrested, the Nigerian military said Thursday.
The IPOB leader, identified as Pius Iguh, was taken into custody by forces associated with Operation Udoka in the southeast part of Nigeria, according to a news conference by Edward Buba, Director of Defense Media Operations.
The group’s hideouts in Orsu, Imo State, Amaruku, and Arochukwu, Abia State, were the sites of the operation that resulted in the arrest, according to Buba.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three more infamous group members.

Additionally, Buba reported that military forces had detained 12 violent extremists and killed 24 terrorists.
According to him, the suspects have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for additional action, and one hostage who had been kidnapped by the group was freed.
Following a sting operation, an IPOB terrorist leader was apprehended by troops at Forward Operation Base, Orsu.
Buba stated, “The terrorist leader who was arrested, Pius Iguh, is a founding father of the ESN group in the Orsu general area of Imo State.”
