NLNG aims to empower journalists by giving them the tools they need to modify their own tales and, as a result, shape the stories of the country, in recognition of the crucial role they play in influencing narratives and public opinion. In order to conduct this programme, NLNG partnered with The Journalism Clinic, directed by the acclaimed Taiwo Obe, and worked with renowned journalist Dan Mason. These specialists led participants through the complexities of social media and digital communication by imparting their vast expertise and experience.
After the initial #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop in 2015, there was a pause. Over 70 journalists have received training since the annual event commenced in 2021, bolstering their knowledge of social media and digital communication.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (49%), Shell Gas B.V. (25.6%), TotalEnergies Gaz & Electricite Holdings (15%), and Eni International N.A. N. V. S.àr.l. (10.4%) are the four shareholders who own NLNG.
