NNPC Slashes Petrol Prices in Lagos and Abuja

The retail price of gasoline has been reduced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to ₦865 per liter in Lagos and ₦890 per liter in Abuja.
Compared to the previous costs of ₦875 and ₦900 per litre in both cities, this is a ₦10 decrease. The Cable checked a number of NNPC filling stations on Friday and found the increased rates.
Petrol was sold for ₦865 per litre at the company’s Abule Ado, Lagos location, and ₦890 per litre at the NNPC station in Abuja, which is situated in the Federal Housing Authority, Kubwa.
NNPC lowered petrol prices to ₦875 in Lagos and ₦900 in Abuja on August 6, just two days after increasing them to ₦915 and ₦955, respectively. The most recent drop was made just nine days earlier.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery also announced a price cut on August 12 from ₦850 to ₦820 per liter.

The refinery assured the public of a consistent supply of petroleum products while reaffirming its dedication to Nigeria’s economic growth.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery guarantees the public a steady and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products as part of our unwavering commitment to national development,” the statement read.

The corporation announced intentions to deploy 4,000 vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for gasoline delivery around the country as part of its sustainability initiative.

“With effect from August 15, 2025, we will begin the phased deployment of 4,000 CNG-powered trucks for fuel distribution throughout Nigeria,” Dangote continued.
