NNPCL Slashes Petrol Price Again as Dealers Adjust Pump Rates

In December 2025, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) lowered the price of gasoline at filling stations in Abuja to ₦835 per litre from ₦915 per litre for the third time.

It was understood that the state-owned oil company had made an adjustment of ₦80.

In the nation’s capital, MRS, BOVAS, and AA Rano changed their petrol pump prices to ₦739 to ₦865 per litre, following previous pricing evaluations by independent marketers.

After Dangote Refinery and depot owners cut their ex-depot pricing to between ₦699 and ₦800 per litre, NNPCL and other filling stations lowered their prices.

This came after Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, announced that starting on Tuesday, MRS Oil and Gas filling stations will rigidly impose a petrol price of ₦739 per litre.

At a news conference held at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Nigerians were reassured by Dangote that the corporation would make sure that customers “feel the impact of the recent reduction in petrol prices.”

MRS will begin selling gasoline on Tuesday at ₦739 per liter. We will undoubtedly enforce that low price. We’ll see to it that it is carried out. You can come here and purchase your truck if you own one. Our price is ₦699. The proportion of NMDPRA is included in the ₦699. Thus, the actual amount that we receive is roughly ₦389,” he stated.
