The management of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State, on Tuesday, denied having any of its lecturers among the suspected Yoruba Nation agitators.

On Saturday, some masked persons with weapons invaded the state Government Secretariat at Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital and 21 of them were arrested by the joint security personnel deployed to maintain law and order.

One of the arrested agitators, Alabi Ogundeji, who spoke with journalists during their parade at the state police headquarters, Eleyele in Ibadan, the state capital on Monday, claimed to be a lecturer at the college.

Reacting to the claim, the management in a statement by its Registrar, J.A Araoye, denied having any lecturer addressed by that name on its staff list.

Araoye said, “The management of the College wishes to state that the said Alabi Ogundeji is not a lecturer in the College.

” For the avoidance of doubt, ‘Alabi Ogundeji’ is a strange name to the College as no person with such a name has ever been appointed by the College or has any direct or indirect employment relationship with the College.

“The Nigeria Police, all the other security agents and the general public are to please, note.”
