Ibrahim Ali Amin, sometimes known as Ibrahim Little, is a former candidate for governor of Kano and a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He has expressed dissatisfaction with the advancements Nigerians are making under President Bola Tinubu’s rule.
He criticized the President’s assertion that the APC has improved Nigerians’ quality of life in an interview with the Daily Post.
He was responding to the President’s comments at a project commissioning and book launch in Imo State.
“You know, change can be either positive or negative,” he remarked.
If you ask Nigerians today—that is, regular Nigerians who are not connected to the ruling class or the APC-led government—they would tell you the truth.
“No one in their right mind will agree with what our president said if they do not receive crumbs from the APC politicians’ table.”
“He has simply made Nigerians’ suffering worse. In fact, every issue we had under Buhari has gotten worse.
The ADC chieftain attacked the APC-led administration for what he termed as its failure to connect with common Nigerians.
Little stated that action rather than words should be the focus of governance.
“Government is about 1% talk and 99% action.
He remarked, “Unfortunately, all we see today is talk and no real impact on people’s lives.”
He lambasted Tinubu’s handling of insecurity, saying the President has failed in his basic constitutional obligation to protect lives and property.
He asked whether any Nigerian could genuinely claim that the country’s security situation has improved.
“Boko Haram, kidnappers, and bandits are killing more people every day. It is become a national disaster rather than just a northern issue.
He claims that bandits still rule a number of local administrations in the states of Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
He remarked, “We have observed villages and local governments where the people now pay taxes to bandits instead of the government.”
He emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution lays out the president’s main responsibilities in detail, including safeguarding citizens’ lives and property as well as the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He claims that both obligations have been disregarded.
“Parts of Nigeria are effectively ruled by criminals, which has caused a significant setback to the country’s territorial integrity.”
He went on to say that protecting citizens’ welfare and well-being is the president’s second main responsibility.
Little bemoaned how Nigerians had become impoverished under Tinubu’s leadership, with many finding it difficult to pay for necessities.
Additionally, he criticized Tinubu for not going to attack-affected communities, claiming the president is more interested in going to social gatherings.
“He has never traveled to a region affected by banditry or Boko Haram since becoming office. However, he was in Plateau for a funeral and in Kaduna for a senator’s wedding,” he continued.
