Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, admitted that Kano Pillars had earned their win in the Matchday 35 match.
Ahmed Musa and Rabiu Ali scored goals in Friday’s 2-0 loss to Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, according to reports.
According to Finidi, his squad will focus on earning as many points as possible in their next home games for the rest of the season.
In a post-match interview, Finidi said, “Kano Pillars deserved to win if we look at the overall performance with the chances created.”
“We need to return home and see how we can win our games, which I am very sure we can do.”
With 58 points, Rivers United is still ranked second in the league.
At the same time, Remo Stars are just one victory away from winning their first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) championship after Kano Pillars defeated Rivers United 2-0 on April 25.
A goal by Ahmed Musa broke the tie in the 64th minute of Kano Pillars’ impressive performance during the NPFL game at Sani Abacha Stadium.
A crucial victory for Pillars was achieved in the 76th minute when Rabiu Ali converted a penalty kick to seal the victory. With 35 games played and 58 points, Rivers United is now at a standstill with this setback.
The Remo Stars are in first place with 65 points from 34 games, but their upcoming encounter is crucial since they just need to win once to win the title.

With 65 points, Remo Stars lead the league standings right now, followed by Rivers United at 58. Bendel and Kano Pillars, who both have 50 points but have one more game left, round up the top six, while Ikorodu City and Abia Warriors are level at 53 points.
The Remo Stars are in an excellent position because of their steady play throughout the season.
In addition to becoming the NPFL champions, they would accomplish a tremendous feat for the team if they defeated the Niger Tornadoes in their upcoming league game on Sunday, April 27.
