The recently founded Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), located in Iyin Ekiti, has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 34 academic programs spread over four faculties.
According to a statement from Mr. Oluwole Dada, the registrar of the university, the following departments and faculties are accredited: Mining Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
This followed a week-long facilities verification exercise at the recently founded university that was carried out by four NUC teams.
The university’s labs, lecture halls, offices, dorms, library, clinic, restrooms, staff buses, and instructional supplies, including Hitachi boards, were among the facilities that were evaluated.
The purpose of the exercise was to determine the institution’s readiness and ability to provide top-notch instruction in environmental sciences, science, engineering, and technology, as well as computing and information technology.
Civil and environmental engineering, computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronics engineering are some of the courses that have been accredited.
The following courses are approved for the Faculty of Science: biology, mathematics, and biochemistry. For Chemistry, Microbiology, Geology, and Forensic Science

The successful verification was welcomed by the university’s vice chancellor, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, who called it a significant achievement that validates the university’s preparedness to offer education in the twenty-first century.
He emphasized that FUTES is dedicated to producing students who can compete successfully with their international peers.
Professor Aribisala assured that admission would be determined solely on merit and urged applicants to switch their preferred school to FUTES on the JAMB portal.
We want to establish academic brilliance as the standard right away because that is why we are here. He stated that students who score highly on the JAMB, WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB will be admitted solely on the basis of merit, without fear or preference.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that FUTES does not work through third parties and advised parents and guardians against using admission agents.
Additionally, he suggested that prospective students seek advice from the Registrar’s office or only trust the confirmed information found on the school’s official website, www.futes.edu.ng.
“We would like the public to understand that the institution does not have any form of agent for admissions or payments. Everyone may receive reliable information on our website,” he continued.
The VC affirmed that he would not oversee a system that encourages corruption but quality, and he urged candidates and parents to exercise caution and avoid becoming victims of scammers.
