The senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Ned Nwoko, has cautioned people of Delta North to remain security conscious, as it is everyone’s business

Nwoko gave the advice during a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, during the official unveiling of his constituency office.

The senator, who is currently sponsoring a bill at the National Assembly for civilians to own and carry firearms, urged his constituency to defend themselves with legal weapons.

He said, “You have sent me to represent you, I’m willing and ready to meet the needs of the people of Delta North, which has led me to unveil the campaign office housing nine local government areas of the state.

“I’m a very grateful person, without you, I will not be in Abuja, you gave me the platform and I won’t take you for granted.’’

“The number of citizens is increasing every day, the security agencies do not have the capacity to secure every nook and cranny, so security is everybody’s business.

“The state has failed to protect Nigerians, we have about 200,000 policemen in the entire country of the over 200 million people and that is grossly inadequate.

“Even journalists are also exposed to insecurity. If bandits attack you, who do you call that is easily accessible. This law is not for Nwoko

“There are illegal weapons in the hands of these bad boys and women, so those who are law abiding should be left unprotected, defenceless or you will wait for God to help you?’’

“So, there is need for the masses to have legal weapons for the purpose of self defence as security is everybody’s concern

“I’m equal to the task, I’m very much prepared for this assignment and I didn’t go there to learn.”

He promised to attract more dividends of democracy to the people of Anioma nation for their trust in his leadership.

He assured of better days and said the youths and women are integral in his constituency blueprint for the next phase of his constituency projects.

Responding, Anioma traditional rulers, comprising monarchs from Delta North senatorial district passed a vote of implicit confidence in Senator Nwoko.

This motion was moved by the traditional ruler of Ukala Okpunor kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Obi Clement Ifeanyi Ejiofor, and was unanimously endorsed by others during the unveiling of the senator’s office in Asaba.

The traditional rulers said Senator Nwoko has recorded unprecedented achievements through important bills, motions and empowerments, all dedicated to the development of Anioma, Delta and Nigeria in general.
