Samben Nwosu, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra, has resigned his membership from the party.
Nwosu, a foundation member of the party, made his resignation known in a letter addressed to the Otolo Ward I, Nnewi secretariat, which was shared with newsmen in Awka on Friday.
In the letter, he explained that recent events had led him to reassess his position within the party, despite many years of dedication to its ideals of promoting democracy.
He stated: “But recently a full swing has taken shape within the party, especially as it has to do with unfair treatment and orchestrated embarrassments by some political merchants within the party.
“The most popular of such embarrassments was the pseudo-signing of a suspension letter by an unknown organ of the party, without due process or proper notification to myself.
“The next senatorial election rerun is an opportunity to showcase to the people that a prepared mind is better than a monetised mind, and hence, my resignation.”
Nwosu, who was a Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, said his decision to resign from PDP was not an easy one.
