The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied allegations that it denied Ushie Rita Uguamaye (state code LA/24B/8325), a corps member, her Certificate of National Service (CNS) due to suspected anti-government comments.
The NYSC insisted that the decision was made for legitimate disciplinary reasons in accordance with its bye-laws, calling the accusation “entirely unfounded and false in its entirety” in a statement published on its official page.
Ms. Ushie is one of 131 corps members whose certifications were revoked due to a variety of violations, according to the NYSC. Because she did not show up for the biometric clearing exercise in April 2025, her service year was prolonged by two months.
According to the statement, “The NYSC Management would want to address false information that has been making the rounds on social media about Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, State Code number LA/24B/8325. It is completely untrue and unjustified to say that she was refused a Certificate of National Service (CNS) because she made negative comments about the administration.

For legitimate disciplinary reasons, Rita’s Certificate of National Service (CNS) was withheld, joining 131 other Corps members. In particular, Rita’s service year has been extended by two months in accordance with the NYSC Bye-Laws because she did not attend the biometrics clearance in April 2025.
It is crucial to remember that the equal treatment principle was only used in this instance and that this extension is a routine practice rather than being specific to her case.
Because prolonging service for non-compliance is a traditional NYSC tradition and shouldn’t be politicized, the NYSC Management requests that the public approach this issue with understanding.
“The NYSC Scheme is still dedicated to carrying out its mandate in accordance with the constitution’s requirements.”
