The Ogun State Police Command is searching for a man named Jonah and his unidentified girlfriend for allegedly stabbing a Chinese national, Chen Wang, to death.

TheNigerian Metro exclusively gathered from the command on Tuesday that Wang, a 33-year-old expatriate and manager of Fujiada Electronics Technology Company Ltd., was allegedly killed in his office around noon on Sunday.

The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to TheNigerian Metro, stated that Mr Akosile Akinsanmi, the manager of the company located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, reported the incident to the Ogere Police Division shortly after it occurred.

TheNigerian Metro learnt that while the company’s workers were on their routine break, Jonah, along with his girlfriend, allegedly entered the office of the Chinese national, stabbed him, and then fled the scene.

Odutola said, “The company’s manager stated that at around noon on January 12, during the workers’ break, a man named Jonah, whose last name is unknown, along with his unidentified girlfriend, both of whom are still at large, entered the office of Chen Wang, a 33-year-old Chinese national, and fatally stabbed him.

“Detectives from the Ogere Police Division conducted a scene investigation, during which photographs of the deceased were taken. The body has been transferred to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination.

“A preliminary investigation is ongoing, and the case will soon be handed over to the SCID for a more detailed inquiry.”

TheNigerian Metro reported a similar crime involving Chinese expatriates in the state on August 12, 2024, when two nationals, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, were abducted in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road.

The two were reportedly abducted around 1:45 p.m. on a Sunday while on their way to visit friends after leaving the company.

Following the abduction, the command apprehended two women, identified as Joy Ogungbesan and Naomi Joseph, who were suspected to be the victims’ lovers.
