Olubadan Presents People’s Priority Demands to President Tinubu

Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan, made a demand during his coronation ceremony for the establishment of the state of Ibadan.
Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Osun State Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke were said to have attended the coronation ceremony.

Speaking to the Ibadan populace after being appointed to the position by Governor Seyi Makinde, Ladoja said that the establishment of Ibadan State is the people’s top priority and urged President Bola Tinubu to see it through to completion before 2027.

Speaking in Yoruba, the king stated, “I received a message from my people to Mr. President. They stated that their top goal is to establish Ibadan State, Mr. President.

Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate, will be crowned with a calm and rancour-free ceremony, according to Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadan-designate.

Ajibola told Punch on Thursday that the events preceding Ladoja’s accession to the throne had brought the kingmakers together, in contrast to the disputes that followed the rise of the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

Otun Balogun at the time of Oba Olakulehin’s selection, Ajibola recounted that he had resisted the procedure, arguing that the late king should be given more time to become suitable for the throne.
