Onanuga: God chose Tinubu for Nigeria, LP, PDP blackmailing judiciary

Bayo Onanuga, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of blackmailing the judiciary over President-elect Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued Monday morning, Onanuga stated that God has plans for Nigeria and has “chosen a man who has the best leadership pedigree and espouses the best vision” to lead the country beginning on May 29.

According to the former Media Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), “the 2023 election was the best, most free and fair, and most transparent election since 1979.”

Onanuga stated that those criticizing the election and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are upset because the poll “did not meet their expectations.”

The Transition Committee member slammed clergymen for criticizing the election, citing Cardinal John Onaiyekan of the Catholic Church’s most recent remarks.

“According to Onaiyekan, the alleged machinations of ‘those riggers’ made the manifestation of the ‘people’s will’ in the INEC results impossible.”

Onanuga claimed that the opposition parties and their supporters have been spreading “malicious propaganda” since Tinubu was declared President-elect on March 1.

According to him, the “lie” has been sold outside the country to people who do not have firsthand knowledge of how INEC conducted the election.

According to Onanuga, the 2023 election will be “miles ahead of the heavily tainted 2007 election conducted by President Olusegun Obasanjo, for which the beneficiary, Umaru Yar’Adua, apologized.”

Yar’Adua atoned for Obasanjo’s transgression by establishing the Justice Uwais Commission to clean up the electoral process, according to the ex-Mananing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to him, the implementation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) made a significant difference, making the recent election the most technologically advanced poll ever held in Nigeria.

“Critics of INEC for failing to transmit the results recorded at the 176,000 polling units are acting maliciously…Form EC8 was distributed to each party polling agent.”

Onanuga stated that parties do not need to wait for INEC to upload results to know the complete results, recalling how former President Goodluck Jonathan conceded to President Muhammadu Buhari before INEC announced his fate.

“In an extremely unusual development in our politics, the LP and PDP initially sponsored calls for an interim government.” Except for this time, when we have Peter Obi and Atiku, we have never seen such post-election desperation.

“Every election held since 1999 has been contested by losers.” While the litigation is ongoing, the winners are permitted to be sworn in. This was the case in all elections…and it was also the trend in the states,” he emphasized.

In reference, Onanuga stated that when Obi’s running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, was elected Senator of Kaduna North in 2011, his challenger went to court and won while the former was still in office.

According to the statement, the convention cannot be changed in Tinubu’s case because some people believe that the candidates who finished second and third are pursuing legal action.
