Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered all Chairmen, Councilors, and elected officials of the state’s Local Government Areas to resign from their positions.
This platform understands that the order came after their contract expired on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The acting governor thanked the local government representatives while advising them to transfer authority responsibly in a statement released by his spokesperson, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson.
About six months before the state’s local government elections, the Aiyedatiwa order will be issued.
It was necessary to move the council election from its original December date to February 2024.
The elected Chairmen and Councillors of Local Governments in Ondo State’s constitutional term ends today, August 30, 2023, the acting governor stated in the statement.
“This indicates that all Chairmen and Councillors will resign from their positions and turn over control of the Local Governments in the manner indicated.
The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has instructed the Heads of Local Government Administration in the eighteen (18) Local Governments throughout the State to take charge of the administration of the Local Governments immediately, pending further directives from the State Government, in accordance with the aforementioned and in order to prevent a vacuum.
