Ondo Government Suspends Officials Amid Alleged N700,000 Per-Person Recruitment Scam

Three senior officials have been suspended by the Ondo State Government for their alleged involvement in a recruiting scam related to the state’s recent hiring of teachers.
According to what was understood, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ordered two directors and a deputy director to be suspended while the incident was being investigated.

According to the findings, the officials allegedly obtained, in exchange for phony appointment letters, between ₦500,000 and ₦700,000 from gullible candidates, depending on their academic credentials.

After several people protested their exclusion from the continuing biometric verification process for newly hired instructors, the racket was exposed. Many of the demonstrators had provided fraudulent appointment documents, according to subsequent investigations.

The administration confirmed that the irate demonstrators were not part of the more than 2,000 teachers who had been lawfully recruited and deployed throughout the state in a statement made by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has taken notice of allegations of a protest by people who say they were wrongfully left out of the SUBEB hiring process. To be clear, the demonstrators were not actual workers; rather, they were deceitful individuals who received phony letters after paying con artists, the statement said.

Adeniyan revealed that three State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) officials colluded with outside partners to provide applicants with phony appointment and posting letters in exchange for cash, according to internal investigations.

“The three SUBEB insiders who were discovered to have colluded with outsiders to defraud applicants have already been subject to disciplinary action,” Adeniyan continued.
