An accident that occurred along the Danlitti turning inbound Lagos on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday left one person dead while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
TheNigerian Metro gathered from a traffic update by the Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi, that 18 people were involved in the crash in the early hours of the day.
He added that the accident happened when a truck collided with a Mazda bus from the rear causing the bus to hit another truck ahead of it.
Ogunyemi said, “A fatal accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Danlitti turning inbound Lagos. Vehicles involved are one Mazda bus with number plate FFA 317 XD and two unknown trucks.
“According to the Mazda bus driver, an unknown truck hit his bus from the rear and as a result, he rammed into a moving truck from the rear but the truck driver also did not wait.
“Eighteen persons were involved (12 adult males, and six adult females), seven persons were injured and one death was recorded.”
The TRACE boss noted that the injured victims were rescued at a hospital along the expressway while the body of the deceased was taken to the same hospital morgue by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
“The presumed death has been taken to Famobis morgue at Lotto by FRSC before our arrival and also the injured victims have been taken to Famobis hospital as well by FRSC,” Ogunyemi said.
