No person or organization, according to Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, can thwart his goal to become governor.
Shaibu reportedly said as much on Tuesday during an interview for the Sunrise Daily show on Channels Television.
Shaibu claimed that since he consulted God before announcing his intention to run for governor, only God had the power to put an end to his dreams of becoming governor.
The deputy governor declared that he would not give up on his ambition to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki in office despite his ongoing conflict with the latter.
Shaibu claims that the state’s residents want him to run for governor because they want an authentic homeboy.
“My people want me to run for governor,” he declared. They require a true homeboy.
“They know I have expertise having worked in both legislative and executive positions, and they need individuals who can bring governance to their doorstep.”

Recall that on Monday in the state capital of Benin, the deputy governor announced his intention to run for governor.
Since it became known that he intended to succeed his principal, Shaibu claimed to have faced pressure, humiliation, and persecution.
The deputy governor declared his determination to restore the South-South state’s glory, stating that he had risked his life for the advancement and expansion of the state.
Shaibu claimed that despite being hounded, he was not abandoned in the ongoing conflict he has been in with Governor Obaseki for months due to his political aspirations.
The deputy governor said that he had been severely injured but not destroyed, saying that despite being pushed, he had not been crushed.
Shaibu opened his campaign office in Benin City, the state capital, following his formal declaration, before an enthusiastic crowd of party members and supporters.
