Passersby shot dead as rival Osun land grabbers clash over bounty

There is palpable tension in Osogbo, capital of Osun State after two land grabbing groups clashed over bounty from a site developer.

The Nation learnt the groups have been clashing since Sunday around Gbeemu and Balogun Agoro areas of Osogbo after a developer paid bounty to one of the group’s leaders.

The collection of the bounty infuriated the other group who felt they were in charge of the area where the construction was ongoing.

However, on Tuesday, during the clash, a passersby was killed by stray bullet at Balogun Agoro causing tension in the area.

Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident. 

She said police operatives have been deployed to the area to restore law and order.
