In a significant political development in Yobe State, a prominent stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has formally announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration was made at a well-attended ceremony held in Damaturu, the state capital, where the politician stated that his decision to join the APC was driven by his admiration for Governor Mai Mala Buni’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the socio-economic advancement of Yobe State.
Yarin Fika, who was widely regarded as one of the PDP’s most influential figures in the state, said he was convinced that the APC offers a more credible platform for the realization of his political ideals and the development aspirations of his people.
He further revealed that all his loyal supporters from Zone ‘B’ Senatorial District have followed his example by transferring their political allegiance to the ruling party.
“I want you to mark my words—PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe State is dead,” Yarin Fika declared emphatically, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the APC in Yobe State, Hon. Mohammed Gadaka, described the defection as a major political gain for the party, adding that the leadership of the APC would ensure Yarin Fika and his supporters are fully integrated into the party structure.
“We value this defection greatly. You will be accorded every right and privilege enjoyed by all members of the party,” Gadaka assured.
In his remarks, Governor Buni warmly welcomed Yarin Fika and his supporters, describing their decision as a bold and strategic step that would significantly boost the political strength and electoral prospects of the APC across the state.
According to the governor, Yarin Fika’s inclusion would not only consolidate the APC’s dominance in Potiskum and Zone B, but also strengthen the unity and collective resolve of the party in Yobe as a whole.
Governor Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, emphasizing that the APC remains open to all Nigerians who share the vision of peace, progress, and prosperity for the state and the nation.
