Former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s statements on ongoing instability among opposition groups.
According to reports, a number of notable persons have shifted to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 national elections, including state governors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
In his June 12 Democracy Day speech on Thursday, President Tinubu attacked the opposition parties, saying he was glad to see them “in disarray.”
“I believe you should do your best to organize your home. I will not help you do so either,” the Nigerian leader said.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has denied allegations that his administration is establishing a one-party system by inviting opposition figures to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Saraki responded to Tinubu’s statement by conceding that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently in chaos.

He urged party members and opposing parties to organize appropriately.
“I think we have to believe him,” Saraki said. I mean, he did a terrific job of expressing his opposition to one-party government. He favors a multi-party system, so we must believe him when he says that. As a result, we have all reached an agreement.
“For this reason, we are traveling around and encouraging everyone to join us. As a result, persons who claim to be under pressure are no longer under it. We are all in favor of multi-party, and since he has declared that he will not support us, we will try to organize our own homes once more.
