The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held a larger caucus gathering on Sunday with the theme “Let’s make Katsina state work again.”
Thousands of party stakeholders attended the gathering from the state’s 34 Local Government areas spread across 361 wards.
Speaking to the vast number of PDP supporters, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, the candidate for governor in 2023 and Katsina leader, blasted the ADC’s formation, claiming that the PDP is still stronger and more cohesive in spite of it.
Despite recent defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he noted, the PDP still has a very strong national and state base.

Senator Danmarke argued that the ADC’s formation does not pose a threat to the PDP since it is a group of disgruntled politicians who are attempting to seize power in order to benefit themselves.
As a blessing in disguise, he explained, the defection of some PDP members to the coalition group will further strengthen and unite the party in the state.
“Those who were working against the party’s advancement are glad to be gone. He claimed that although we trusted and confided in them, they had deceived us.
The state PDP leader, however, urged the populace to maintain their resolve, emphasizing that the PDP is the only political party capable of rescuing the nation from the poor leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi, the state PDP chairman, had earlier thanked everyone for attending the caucus meeting and said it was a sign of the party’s increasing popularity in the state.
“We have a chance to discuss important issues and reposition our party for success in upcoming elections,” Kurfi continued.
