Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential contender for 2023, has declared that he would be willing to serve as vice president of Nigeria in the future.

Prior to making such a decision, the former governor of Anambra State has established a few requirements that must be fulfilled.

In a recent YouTube-aired interview on News Central TV, he disclosed the information.

Obi underlined that assisting Nigeria in its progress is his primary objective. He thinks that in order to implement constructive change, the nation needs strong leadership in the wake of the 2027 general election.

“Quite frankly, I’m not desperate to be Nigeria’s president,” Obi responded when asked if he would accept the position of vice president. I really want Nigeria to succeed. I will (consider running for vice president) if I find someone who can do the work more efficiently.

“There are even those who argue that I shouldn’t come out in 2027. To them, I respond, put yourself out there. Furthermore, nobody will be placed on a scale.

Obi made it plain that he has no intention of leaving the Labour Party, even though he is willing to collaborate with others.

“Yeah, I would be here (at the Labour Party), and if someone is coming so we can talk or get together, he needs to explain to me why he is coming.

“I refuse to support anyone in capturing the state or winning an election. Please explain to me how we plan to make sure that no child is left behind and how we plan to reintegrate the millions of children who are now not enrolled in school.

With more than 6 million votes, or roughly 25.4% of all votes cast, Obi finished third in the 2023 presidential election. With about 8.8 million votes (37.6%), Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was victorious in the election. With almost 7 million votes (29.9%), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar came in second.
