Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s personal assistant on public relations, Phrank Shaibu, claims that under President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria has lost its significance on the international stage.
The exclusion of Nigeria from a summit between US President Donald Trump and five African leaders is “a scathing verdict” on Tinubu’s foreign policy shortcomings, Shaibu said in a statement on Friday.
On July 9, Trump is expected to meet with the leaders of Senegal, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, and Mauritania at the White House to talk about business prospects.
According to Shaibu, Nigeria’s exclusion from the list was “a staggering symbol of the Tinubu administration’s failure on the international stage” rather than a diplomatic blunder.
“The Trump administration’s exclusion is not a diplomatic blunder,” he declared.
“It is a verdict—stumbling in suggestion and caustic in symbolism. A ruling on the unstable presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his contentious ECOWAS chairmanship, and the total loss of Nigeria’s diplomatic significance.

According to him, Nigeria, a once-dominant continent, is now “an afterthought” in international politics.
“With three nations leaving and 40% of its land mass gone, Tinubu left the 15-member ECOWAS in a desperate situation,” he said.
“Tinubu has completed the transition from Giant of Africa to diplomatic ghost. He has diminished our status, squandered our past, and muffled our voice on the international scene.
According to him, Nigeria “is invisible” under Tinubu’s leadership while South Africa and Washington negotiate trade agreements.
Nigeria would be freed from the rule of “urban bandits” by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, Shaibu continued.
He declared, “We shall not be complicit in our own erasure.”
The harm is severe, but we are resolute. Additionally, the effort to restore Nigeria’s honor has already commenced.
Shaibu said Tuesday that growing hunger and economic suffering will cause the All Progressives Congress (APC) to lose the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, Nigerians will vote against the ruling party in the upcoming election because they are already feeling the effects of bad governance.
Hunger cannot be concealed by propaganda. He asserted that poverty cannot be manipulated by public relations.
