Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Kidnapping of AAUA Staff and Ransom Sharing

Three people have been taken into custody in relation to the abduction of an employee of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, according to police.

The abductee was freed after paying the gunmen an undisclosed amount, and the suspects were taken into custody less than twenty-four hours later.

The abductors demanded a ransom of N100 million from the friends, family, and colleagues of Omoniyi Eleyinmi, the Faculty Officer in the varsity’s Faculty of Education.

However, the gunmen agreed to take N7 million after much pleading and haggling, but they gave the family 24 hours to make the payment.

Nevertheless, Eleyinmi was liberated on Sunday after his family paid the gunmen an undisclosed amount to secure his release.

While splitting the ransom, the culprits were apprehended, according to sources.

“I can confirm to you that our operatives arrested three suspected kidnappers in connection with the kidnapping of two AAUA lecturers,” stated Olayinka Ayanlade, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesperson for the Police Command, Ondo State.

The suspects are presently being questioned and profiled.

The suspects and all collected exhibits are to be sent to the Anti-kidnapping Squad for a discreet and comprehensive investigation, per the directive of CP Adebowale Lawal, the Commissioner of Police for the Ondo State Police Command.
