Police arrest two for vandalism, motorcycle theft in Sokoto

The Nigerian Police Force, Sokoto State Command, has confirmed the arrest of two persons for vandalism and motorcycle theft within the state.

The suspects include one Imrana Umar ‘m’ of Minanata Area and Isah Usman AKA Man ‘m’ Makera Asada Area Sokoto respectively.

A statement signed by the command spokesman, DSP Ahmed Rufai, and made available to newsmen on Friday said, “On 13/01/2025 about 1800Hrs a distress call was received from community members of Diplomat Area Sokoto, that an individual suspected to be a thief was attacked by an angry mob and was about to be lynched.

“On receipt of the information, the Strike Force of the Command rushed to the scene and rescued One Imrana Umar.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having criminally trespassed into the house of one Abdulhamid Muhammad and stole his One TVS motorcycle.

“In another development, a distress call was also received at Strike Force Unit by the Vigilante group of Kofar Kware Area Sokoto; that one Isah Usman, AKA Man, was intercepted with four ceiling fans and some pieces of electric wires.

“Interrogation revealed that the suspect stole the items from Hafsatu Girls Secondary School Sokoto and Ila’il Academy Arkilla with the intent to sell it to One Yunusa M of Kuffa Area, now at large. While efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing culprit”

The statement further said the suspects would be charged in court for prosecution upon the completion of interrogation.
