Presidency Accuses Obi of Inconsistency: From ‘Structure of Criminality’ to Critiquing Leaders

Mr. Peter Obi, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former governor of Anambra State, has come under fire from the presidency for political inconsistencies and what it called “desperation for power.”

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, voiced the criticism in a post on X.

Onanuga was responding to a widely shared video in which Obi seemed to identify with politicians he had previously denounced.

Onanuga claims that Obi has drastically changed his mind and is now calling politicians who he previously referred to as the “structure of criminality” leaders.

He claimed that this change cast doubt on Obi’s sincerity and dedication to the values he had previously espoused.

Obi acknowledged individuals including David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi as important political leaders in the video and associated comments.

The Presidency pointed out that this position stands in stark contrast to Obi’s posture during the previous election cycle, when he focused his campaign on separating himself from what he described as a disgraced and corrupt political elite.

Onanuga contended that Obi’s most recent comments contradict that previous account and instead highlight a pattern of shifting positions motivated by political aspirations.

He claimed that supporting those who have been denounced in the past shows a readiness to change one’s mind when one’s beliefs no longer serve one’s political objectives.

Additionally, Obi’s treatment of his followers was criticized by the Presidency, which suggested that his latest remarks suggest that people who trusted his prior message were duped.

Onanuga claims that the occurrence confirms worries that Obi lacks ideological coherence, changing his position in response to coalitions and current political circumstances.

The Presidency came to the conclusion that Obi’s approach to politics lacks the consistency and clarity that are necessary for effective leadership.

The message states “Peter Obi has set a new record for political desperation. He has demonstrated in his quest for the president that he is an unprincipled politician who is prepared to “eat his own vomit,” retract statements, and discard his platform if it is no longer a crucial component of his political calculations or permutations.

He is open to hanging around with anyone in his politics of desperation, including people he used to mock. If he has a political philosophy, he can change his mind about anything.

He is undoubtedly not a trustworthy political leader. Nobody knows exactly where he stands on any given topic. He changes as the wind and X trends do.

“This video clip highlights Obi’s string of contradictions and confusion, as he has now thrown his supporters under the bus.”
