President Goes Ghost After BRICS – ADC Demands Tinubu’s Explanation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has openly questioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s five-day absence following the conclusion of the BRICS Summit in Brazil, calling for full disclosure on his whereabouts during the unexplained gap.

President Tinubu, who returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Sunday, had not been seen or heard from since the summit wrapped up on Monday, July 7. The ADC said this silence reflects a worrying pattern of non-accountability that has defined the administration’s handling of international trips.

In a strongly worded statement, ADC spokesperson Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi noted that while other world leaders promptly returned home and resumed governance, Tinubu’s delayed return and failure to offer any explanation raises concerns about transparency at the highest level.

“He was on official duty, not a private vacation. Nigerians deserve to know where their president was and why he went missing in action for five crucial days,” the statement said.

The party further cited previous instances where President Tinubu disappeared from public view after international engagements — including unexplained absences following visits to France, the Netherlands, Riyadh, China, and Paris throughout 2024.

ADC warned that such actions fuel public suspicion, damage national credibility, and undermine leadership in a country facing serious socio-economic challenges.

“A leader who disappears without explanation cannot demand accountability from citizens,” the party stated. “This level of secrecy is not just unhealthy for democracy—it erodes public confidence.”

The opposition party urged Nigerians to demand more from their leaders and hold the government accountable for opaque governance.
