Remi Tinubu Attributes Rising Insecurity to the Erosion of Family Values

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has attributed the rise in insecurity on the breakdown of family values.
Tinubu stated that families need to take back their position as the cornerstone of society during the opening of Exercise Haske Biyu 2025 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State.

The First Lady, represented by the vice president’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, pointed out that many parents have neglected their fundamental responsibility of raising children in their fight for survival, leaving them open to extremist ideologies, drug abuse, prostitution, and cultism.

A space left by the absence of parents is frequently filled by unwholesome company and destructive behavior. In addition to being disastrous for families, the result poses a threat to national security, she cautioned.

She asserts that the family continues to be the cornerstone of society, serving as the primary educational institution for Nigerians from various ethnic groups, faiths, and customs.

She emphasized that “a strong nation is built by a strong family.”

As the Special Guest of Honor, Tinubu also emphasized the importance of religion in fostering morals and unity, calling on religious and traditional leaders to step up their efforts to instill moral values and teach young people the correct religious concepts.

She affirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was dedicated to helping families, pointing to the expanded Conditional Cash Transfer program that will provide 15 million homes in need with ₦25,000 in three installments.
