On Tuesday, the House of Representatives issued a call to action to the Federal Government, urging them to immediately open the grain reserves and distribute grains to Nigerians who are economically disadvantaged.

According to the representatives, this is done in order to combat the hunger that exists throughout the land.

Following the adoption of a motion of national urgent importance, which was moved by Mr. Ibrahim Isiaka, the member representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Ogun State, the resolution was passed.

As the debate was being led, Isiaka made the observation that the cost of living has become extremely challenging for Nigerians. At the same time, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the rising cost of cement, saying, “Even though we have all the raw materials for the production.”

For the purpose of addressing the issue of hunger in our nation, he stated, “The House of Representatives has decided to urge the Federal Government and other stakeholders to immediately open the food reserves.”

He also called on the apex government to boost food production and distribution.
