The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has been praised by the House of Representatives for encouraging research and creating creative hubs to support science and technology education among Nigerian youth and students.

Speaking on Sunday at the Abuja Innov8 Hub during a two-week summit for some Nigerian academics, researchers, and students, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu promised that the parliament would be willing to assist creative endeavors in Nigeria.

Launched in 2022, the program, named “Research for Impact Initiative (R4i),” is a joint effort between TETFund and Innov8 Hub. Its sole objective is to promote economic growth and comprehensive national development by ushering in a new era of innovation, technology, research, and development in Nigeria.

According to Kalu, “The House is interested in offering solutions to the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s multifaceted needs.” We have also realized that the issues we have been attempting to resolve year after year with the help of customary practice have not yielded the level of output we had anticipated in this nation; for this reason, we cannot overstate the need for innovation that will go against tradition in order to boost output.

“This need for innovation is even more critical for Nigeria. From poverty and unemployment to climate change and security threats, we face many difficulties. Our people have enormous potential that needs to be unlocked in order to overcome these challenges and achieve sustainable development. This is especially true of our young people, who have an abundance of innovative ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit.

This is where programs like i-FAIR’s Innov8 Hub are useful. These programs enable our innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into workable solutions by offering partnerships, resources, and mentorship.

The Deputy Speaker also praised the Israeli community’s and the State of Israel’s Embassy in Nigeria for “partnering with Nigeria in this crucial endeavor.” Your dedication to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria is incredibly admirable, and your support is greatly valued by the people of Nigeria.

The President thinks that innovation is necessary. Nigeria is of the opinion that we must innovate. For this reason, every government agency, including the TETFund, has been provided with all the resources necessary to advance innovation beyond where it was under this administration and toward its proper level.

Speaking from the parliament, I’m pleased that the driver is a good friend of mine; he is enthusiastic about pushing and is not dozing off. I’m happy for you. I’m so happy for you!

“You are thinking creatively about how we can build this country, not by following the routine, but by taking into account the feasible and overcoming the obstacles in the way, so that the feasible will be highlighted to improve our quality of life. You should keep working; I’m proud of the work you’re doing.

And I must admit that I was impressed when I heard you say in that speech that you intend to multiply this. I was really impressed when I learned that you intend to include people who have innovated outside of this hub and that you will give them a platform. By doing this, you will be able to harvest innovations that you haven’t invested in and then prune them for a better future, Kalu told TETFund.

The Peace in South East Project’s initiatives include the Deputy Speaker’s call for the creation of these innovation hubs throughout the South East region of Nigeria in order to lessen the effects of underdevelopment and insecurity.

According to a statement provided by the Chief Press Secretary to Deputy Speaker Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, Lalu stated that by involving young people, the initiative can be strategically connected to PISE-P.

“I implore i-FAIR to think about setting up a facility of that kind in the southeast region of Nigeria. He emphasized that this area, which is well-known as the center of our country’s manufacturing, offers enormous potential for fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

The initiative is a component of the Fund’s strategy to realign public tertiary institutions in order to accelerate the national reawakening and foster socioeconomic development, according to Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the TETFund, who spoke earlier.
