Senator Akume is a leader with heart of gold – Agbese
Chief Philip Agbese has joined the family and millions of supporters of the Hon. Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, to describe him as a man with the heart of gold on the occasion of his 68th birthday.
This was made known yesterday in a statement personally signed by the 2023 House of Representatives aspirant for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency.
The media entrepreneur and author described Senator Akume as a gift to the state and Nigeria due to his firm belief in the peace, progress and unity of the nation.
In eight years as governor, he noted that Akume set the state on the right path for growth and development with a solid blueprint.
During his time in the National Assembly, Agbese recalled that Senator Akume was the voice of the opposition, especially as Minority Leader.
The UK-trained human rights law practitioner said the former governor’s impact as minister isn’t much of a surprise having previously served as Permanent Secretary.
According to Agbese, Akume is among an elite class of Nigerians who rose steadily from the grassroots to national prominence.
He further stated that the former Benue North-West lawmaker has the wealth of experience, pedigree and nationwide acceptance to become the next All Progressives Congress’ national chairman.
“We are proud of the achievements of Senator Akume. He is selfless, liberal and kind-hearted – a man who believes in the youth.
“It is not a doubt that he is the most decorated Benue leader, having served with distinction as Permanent Secretary, Executive Governor for eight years, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for twelve years and now Honourable Minister,” he said.
“Akume’s leadership style has strengthened the APC membership base in the state and set the party on the path for success in 2023. This is what the party needs at this time; a progressive, revolutionary and experienced leader”.
Agbese, however, prayed for many more years of excellence in sound health and prosperity for the APC chieftain.
