Ireti Kingibe, a senator from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has denounced cyberattacks against her for praising Nyesom Wike’s 2025 budget.
According to reports, FCT Minister Wike defended a ₦1.78 trillion proposed budget for the capital city in front of the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Senator Kingibe, a member of the Labour Party, praised the fact that capital expenditures account for 70% of the budget.

Online supporters of her expressed varying opinions on the budget, arguing that the ₦1.78 trillion budget was excessive.

The MP from the Labour Party underlined the importance of her internet followers putting aside their political disagreements and concentrating on the greater good.
She emphasized that the proposed budget aimed to address important issues impacting citizens of the Federal Capital Territory, such as housing, health, education, and infrastructure.

It said: “I was seen endorsing the budget that the Honourable Minister of the FCT delivered in a widely shared viral video. Even if this has generated discussion in some places, I believe it is important to make my stance clear.

“As you are all aware, I am a senator who always speaks the truth. Doing what is right, not what is popular or politically convenient, has always been my guiding concept.

Political differences must occasionally be set aside in favor of a shared objective: the advancement and welfare of our people. In the hopes that it may resolve some of the long-standing problems impacting my constituents, I am supporting the FCT budget. If properly executed, a budget of less than 30% for personnel and overheads and more than 70% for capital projects is a solid budget.

“Some requirements are urgent and cannot wait. Our youth need chances and genuine empowerment; our healthcare and education systems need significant attention; and our brothers and sisters in IDP camps need better living circumstances and support. These aren’t talking points for politics. Many of our people have to deal with these realities on a daily basis.

It is my hope that this budget will be a positive start. The lives of our people in the FCT may be improved and some alleviation may be provided if it is executed correctly. I’m still committed to the people, and I’ll keep calling for transparency and responsibility at every turn.

“Remember: personal interests are not the focus of governance. It has to do with service.
