In the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja, Vice-President Kashim Shettima is in charge of the monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting.
The second meeting of the government’s constitutional economic advisory body since President Bola Tinubu’s administration was inaugurated on May 29, 2023, will take place on Thursday.
NEC is composed of the 36 governors of the federation, as well as the finance ministers, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Mele Kyari, the group chief executive officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, Abdullahi Sule, his counterpart from Nasarawa State, and Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, the deputy governor of Enugu State, are among those who have arrived early for the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
Governor Inuwa Yahya of Gombe State and his colleagues from Zamfara, Katsina, Kwara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Bauchi, Kaduna, Senator Uba Sani, Delta, Sheriff Obrevwori, and Kebbi are also in attendance.
Other governors include Professor Charles Soludo of Anambra, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Mai Mala Bunu of Yobe, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom. Acting governors of Ondo and Imo states are Lucky Aiyedatiwa and David Onoja, respectively.
