Former Nigerian President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida has urged Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be a president for all Nigerians as he assumes leadership of the country.

Babangida praised Tinubu as a skilled politician and urged him to reorganize Nigeria’s armed forces and galvanize the country’s economic heavyweights.

Babangida, speaking on Arise Television yesterday, urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu’s new administration.

He emphasized that Tinubu requires all skills to unite Nigeria, stating that the country has some of the best minds from which he can draw to revamp every sector, including the military.

“Tinubu is a very skilled politician who needs to apply his skills to unite a very polarised nation,” Babangida said.

“He must rally Nigeria’s economic heavyweights, both at home and abroad, to address the nation’s economy and reposition the armed forces.”

“As Commander-in-Chief, he must examine the armed forces in order to reorient, retrain, and reorganize them, because the armed forces have undergone a number of processes that must be put back together and made more efficient.”

“I wish the new administration the best of luck.” Let them prioritize Nigeria, and the welfare of Nigerians should take precedence. Leadership is lacking at all levels.

“The only advice I have is to be patient and continue to support the new government, but if they see things going wrong, they should cry out as usual, but be objective about it.”

On Monday morning, Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s president by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola.
