LEADERSHIP recalls that Speed Darlington petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) in Abuja, DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, seeking compliance with a court order against his continued detention.
His counsel, Rosemary E. Hamza, from the Chambers of Deji Adeyanju & Partners, had emphasised that the court order issued by Justice M.S. Liman on December 23, 2024, directed the police to charge Speed Darlington within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.
Speed Darlington was initially arrested in October 2024 over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking of Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy.
Speed Darlington was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja, where he was detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team. He was later released and re-arrested in November 2024 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State.
