StarTimes Delights Abuja Community With Cinema Event

A digital television company, StarTimes, has brought excitement to Dafa Village in Kwali Area Council, Abuja, with the screening of the Chinese film ‘Detective Chinatown’ (Hausa title: Binciken Garin N).

This event not only entertained the community but also underscored StarTimes’ commitment to social responsibility and the deep-rooted friendship between China and Africa.

The featured film, Detective Chinatown, is a Chinese movie filled with humor and wit. Its engaging plot and unique cultural backdrop captivated the audience. The villagers’ reactions ranged from laughter to deep concentration, indicating their full immersion in the experience.

Through this film, they not only enjoyed entertainment from afar but also gained a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. The wisdom and humor portrayed in the story brought the fusion of Chinese and African cultures to life.

Local resident Dauda Ibrahim expressed his excitement after the screening: “This is my first time watching such a clear large-screen movie in the village, and also my first time watching a Chinese film. The story was very interesting.

The Hausa dubbing helped me understand the movie and China better. Through this event, I have a deeper appreciation of the friendly relationship between China and Nigeria. We are not only economic partners but also cultural friends.”

Speaking at the event the Chief Executive Officer, Star Times, Joshua Wang said, “As a leading digital TV service provider in Africa, StarTimes is dedicated to fulfilling its social responsibilities.

This film screening allowed villagers to experience the convenience of digital equipment and demonstrated StarTimes’ attention to the cultural needs of African grassroots communities.”
