Stop employing falsehood to cause division, Kalu tells Abia APC members

CHIEF Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has urged members of the party in the State to stop employing falsehood to cause division within the party.

 

He also said he had not anointed candidate in the upcoming party congresses as such, members should feel free to vote for candidates of their choice.

 

Kalu was quoted to have said this in Umuahia, yesterday, while addressing party stakeholders in the state. Kalu is the state APC Leader and Chairman of the APC Caucus, in the National Assembly.

 

He spoke in a statement issued in Umuahia. Kalu said “My candidate is the candidate everyone has chosen.  I do not have a personal candidate.

 

“I want every member to understand the importance of strict democratic approach in the Congress. We can’t have two ward chairmen or secretaries but one. We wish everybody well in their endeavors to lead our party in different capacities starting from the ward level to the state level.”

 

While commending party leaders at various levels in the state, the former Abia State Governor attributed the strength of the party to the support, love and tolerance among its members.

 

He stressed the need for members to uphold these virtues in order to succeed in the quest to make Abia State and APC state on or before 2023.

 

He used the occasion to appeal to party members to in the state to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and sacrifice, and strive for unity as the party prepares for the 2023 elections.

 

In Gombe, the State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya and other party stakeholders including Senator Danjuma Goje, have settled for consensus candidates for all party positions from the Ward, Local Governments Areas to the State levels.

 

Yahaya said this during a stakeholders’ meeting which held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Gombe, on Thursday.

 

The governor, who is the leader of the party conveyed the party’s decision in a communique he read to party faithful.

 

Yahaya said, “The meeting resolved to adopt a consensus in the forthcoming congresses of the party at the ward, local government and state levels.

 

“Secondly, the meeting affirmed loyalty to the leadership of Gov Inuwa Yahaya in providing leadership and direction to the party and in the conduct of all congresses that will come up very soon.”

 

He further said, “Stakeholders are very important in our party because we came into office through their support. Consensus is a constitutional right of every party. We should support the party in getting good candidates that will serve the interest of all.”  Speaking in a similar vein, Senator Danjuma Goje (APC Gombe Central) said stakeholders agreed on the consensus arrangement to reduce acrimony and maintain party cohesion.
